About the Show
Discover the story of the tenacious women who rallied for their belief that women deserved the right to vote in the Tony Award winning musical, Suffs. From suffragist icons like Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt and Inez Milholland to the young activists who carried the movement forward, Suffs brings one of history’s most important battles to life through a bold, contemporary book and score written by Shaina Taub. This interpretation of America’s history does not shy away from exploring the real issues these women faced while freedom fighting in the early twentieth century, instead embraces the struggles to create an incredible tribute to everyone who didn’t give up, no matter how hard it was.
SUFFS is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

Reviews
Suffs is an inspiring and emotionally resonating musical, brought to life by a committed cast and confident direction.
Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway
“Suffs” can’t be significant without an exemplary production and that is just what TPTC’s outstanding production achieves.
Chris Curcio, Curtain Up Phoenix
Chelsea Anderson's direction delivers clear characterizations and makes excellent use of the performance space, with many scenes staged close to the audience to create intimacy and urgency. The period costumes by Maci Hosler are terrific, and Alan J. Plado's music direction is remarkable, with the small orchestra and large ensemble delivering some impressive notes and strong harmonies.
Gil Benbrook, Talkin’ Broadway
There isn’t a misstep anywhere in the large cast and Alan J. Plado’s orchestra lends strong musical energy.
Chris Curcio, Curtain Up Phoenix
The show is brought to sparkling life in The Phoenix Theatre Company (TPTC) sharply energetic Chelsea Anderson staging. The production is enhanced by a superlative cast who bring each woman who played a role in the fight to throbbing life.
Chris Curcio, Curtain Up Phoenix
...Cassie Chilton beautifully captures both [Alice Paul's] steely resolve and the personal sacrifices her convictions demand with a warm singing voice that brings emotion to all of her songs. Julie Cardia oozes refined authority and political savvy as Carrie Chapman Catt...
Gil Benbrook, Talkin’ Broadway
As Ida B. Wells, Fatima El-Bashir conveys the journalist/activist's formidable courage and moral clarity...
Gil Benbrook, Talkin’ Broadway
Inez Milholland is portrayed with charisma and idealism by Annalese Fusaro, embodying the glamour and conviction of a suffragist willing to put herself on the line for the cause. ... Lucy Burns is Paul's fiercely loyal college friend and collaborator, and Elyssa Blonder brings spirited energy and sharp humor to the role. Keilani Akagi adds fire and conviction as the working-class activist Ruza Wenclawska, while Jasmyn Gade brings intelligence and an observant wit to her role as the group's dedicated secretary and chronicler...
Gil Benbrook, Talkin’ Broadway
Chanel Bragg brings dignity, intelligence, and moral authority to the story as Mary Church Terrell...
