The Phoenix Theatre Company Presents the Tony Award–Winning Musical Dear Evan Hansen
(PHOENIX, May 20, 2026)- The Phoenix Theatre Company brings the Tony Award–winning musical Dear Evan Hansen to the Hormel Theatre, running June 10 – August 2, 2026.
Featuring a score by the Tony, Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy, and Grammy Award–winning songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, La La Land, Only Murders in the Building, A Christmas Story: The Musical, and Dogfight, the music of Dear Evan Hansen has become as recognizable as the story itself, with songs like “You Will Be Found” and “Waving Through a Window.”
Evan Hansen is a teenager struggling to find where he fits in. When a tragic loss ripples through his community, a misunderstanding draws him into a narrative he never intended to create. As that story begins to take on a life of its own, Evan must face the weight of his choices and the truth behind the connection he’s been searching for.
Dear Evan Hansen is an honest look at loneliness, identity, and the ways people search for connection. The musical has resonated with audiences around the world for its portrayal of mental health, family dynamics, and the pressure to be seen in a world that often feels disconnected.
Directed and choreographed by Michelle Chin, with music direction by Alan J. Plado, this production explores the complexities of connection in a world that often feels isolating.
“I’m incredibly honored to bring this powerful musical to life for its Arizona premiere. This piece not only takes its audience on an emotional journey but also reminds each of us that no one is alone,” said Chin. “I am glad that we can share that message, and hopefully, this experience can open doors for conversation and connection.”
The cast includes Mason Ballard*, Connor Dunning*, Jenny Hintze*, Hatty Ryan King*, Griffin Slivka*, Elyse Wolf*, and Rob Watson*. Understudies include Amie Bjorklund, Owen Donsker, Daniel Shain Graf, Nick Gunnell, and Kyleigh Perales. *Courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association.
Dear Evan Hansen opened on Broadway to critical acclaim and went on to win six Tony Awards in 2017, including Best Musical, along with numerous other honors.
