ALL DATES AND TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
All of our audition times are open to AEA members. Please sign up for a time the best fits your schedule. If you are having any trouble finding an audition time please email email@example.com. We will be keeping an online schedule for general auditions this year. Please make sure you sign up early. Audition time slots tend to fill up very quickly, and we want to make sure everyone gets a slot that works with their schedule.
If you cannot attend our general auditions, please read the information listed under Submitting Your Headshot and/or Video Submissions.
Please make sure the e-mail address attached to your audition slot account is correct, we will use that address to contact you about callbacks. If you are using a family account to book your slot you will need to create a new account for the person who is auditioning so the slot is booked under that individual’s name and not under a family name and contact info. Every person needs their own account.
Please look at the Frequently Asked Questions to get more information regarding our General Audition procedures prior to booking your audition. If you still have questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org and your email will be answered as soon as possible.
What should I prepare?
For Non- Musical (straight play) auditions you should prepare 2 contrasting monologues, no more than 1 1/2 min each. For Musical auditions you should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song; 16 bars of a ballad and 1-1 1/2min monologue. You will only sing one song for your audition the second song will be sung upon request.
How many copies of my headshot and resume should I bring? What about sheet music?
Please bring 3 copies of your headshot, resume, and 3 copies of your audition form. We ask for 3 copies because 1 is kept with the Artistic Director, 1 with the casting consultant and 1 with the production team. As for your sheet music, please have your sheet music in hand to give to the accompanist upon entering the audition room.
Production Casting and Callbacks
For callbacks, the Phoenix Theatre artistic staff, in consultation with directors, invites individual actors to read for roles in specific productions. These callbacks are based on participation in the General Auditions and are held throughout the year on an invitation-only basis in Phoenix, and also possibly in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or Toronto as the project warrants. As a courtesy to our artists, once casting has been completed for a specific show, a generated email will be sent to all actors who were called back. Until the email has been sent, the Phoenix Theatre artistic staff, in consultation with directors, are still in the midst of casting.
Seeing Your Work
Members of the Phoenix Theatre artistic staff try to see as many theatre performances as possible. If you are cast in a production in the Phoenix area, please send us an invitation card to our physical address (ATTN: DIRECTOR OF CASTING). Time permitting, one of the artistic staff members will attend. We regret that it is impossible for us to see everything.
Out-of Town Actors
Throughout the year, Equity actors visiting from out of town are welcome to request an audition appointment by emailing email@example.com . Auditions are scheduled contingent on the availability of the artistic staff.
