David Ira Goldstein

David Ira Goldstein is the former Artistic Director of Arizona Theatre Company where he produced and/or directed over 200 mainstage plays, workshops, readings, and presentations over 26 years. ATC directing credits range from musicals, to classics, to contemporary plays. At ATC he directed over a dozen world premieres including The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini; six premieres by Steven Dietz including Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (winner of the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America), Private Eyes, and Dracula; and the premieres of Holmes and WatsonTen Chimneys, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Jeffrey Hatcher. Mr. Goldstein has been a guest director at theatres all across the country including Pasadena Playhouse, Berkeley Rep, Seattle Rep, Arizona Opera, Village Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Geva Theatre, Mixed Blood, and Kansas City Rep, among many others. Before coming to Arizona, he was Associate Artistic Director at ACT Theatre in Seattle and Actors Theatre of St. Paul. His musical A Marvelous Party: The Noel Coward Celebration won four Jeff Awards in Chicago including Best Director, the LA Drama Critics Award, the Elliott Norton Award in Boston and the Bay Area Critics Award.
