About the Show

Once upon a time, deep in an enchanted forest, a web of familiar fairy tales began to weave in unexpected ways. Cinderella’s quest for love, Jack’s daring climbs up the beanstalk, Little Red’s encounter with the mischievous Wolf, and a Baker and his Wife’s yearning for a child — these beloved stories converged under the watchful eyes of the woods — and the Witch! But wishes, no matter how pure, often come at a cost. As the characters pursued their dreams, they soon discovered that every expected ever-after carried a twist, a ripple of consequences that challenged the very nature of their storybook endings. In this critically acclaimed musical masterpiece, venture forth on an odyssey that goes beyond the simple, “and they lived happily ever after.” Here, in the fictional yet insightful world of Into the Woods, you’ll see how a single choice can unravel the delicate threads of life itself.

Reviews

"With a uniformly strong cast, imaginative staging, and rich creative elements, this production perfectly captures the magic and emotional depth of this intricate tale. Those new to the piece will appreciate the cleverness of the material while those familiar with the show will find a fresh appreciation in the crisp pacing, clear storytelling, and dynamic performances. It's a gorgeous production that respects the material while offering a few unique touches of its own."
Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway
"And, as we can expect from TPTC, the local production is astonishingly sharp, brilliantly cast, magnificently sung, stunningly staged by Karla Koskinen, and sharply choreographed by Nicole I. Olson."
Chris Curcio, Curtain Up
"And then there’s Alyssa Chiarello as the Witch, always the juiciest role in the show. Chiarello is a force of nature who commands every moment she’s on the Hormel Theatre stage. ... Plus, her Last Midnight is sung with raw power and bitterness as she realizes that even magic can’t prevent the pain of loss."
David Appleford, Broadway World
"The Baker and the Baker's Wife are portrayed by Nick Barakos and Meggie Siegrist with warmth and authenticity, their chemistry grounding the show's emotional arc. Barakos' strong stage presence and Siegrist's sublime comic timing and delivery create two of the best performances of these characters I've seen across more than a dozen productions of the show."
Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway
"Tre Moore is earnest and endearing as Jack, with a singing voice that soars. Moore's scenes with Jack's loving yet exasperated mother are both funny and touching, due to Elyse Wolf's humorous expressions and sharp comic skills, presenting a superb portrayal of this frustrated woman."
Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway
"As Cinderella, Dani Apple is graceful and thoughtful, navigating the character's personal growth with a quiet strength. Elyssa Blonder is spirited and funny, with excellent comic skills, as Little Red Riding Hood, providing a delightful mix of innocence and spunk..."
Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway
"The comedic high points belong first to Liam Boyd and Shonn Wiley (now stripped of his wolf costume) as the preening, peacocking princes, whose Agony is as uproarious as ever..."
