Summer of Dance Health and Safety Policy

Summer of Dance Health and Safety Policy

Please note: the Summer of Dance Health and Safety policy varies upon whether you are taking junior or adult classes. Our protocols for positive COVID-19 cases as detailed below apply to both adult and junior classes.

Policy for Adult Classes (Ages 15+)

With proof of vaccination, masks are not required to take an adult Summer of Dance class.

Without proof of vaccination, masks are required to be worn at all times.

  • All face masks (whether disposable or reusable) must:
    • Be made with at least two layers of breathable material
    • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
    • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the dancer to remain hands-free

Policy for Junior Classes (Ages 8-14)

  • All dancers will be required to wear a face mask at all times. Masks may only be taken off while actively eating or drinking.
  • Upon arrival all dancers must submit to a mandatory temperature check. Dancers with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be permitted to enter campus.
  • If any dancer is feeling sick we require that child stay home.
    • Symptoms of COVID-19 infection include headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, diarrhea, congestion or running nose, and/or a temperature of 100.4 or higher

Positive COVID-19 Case Protocol

As national guidance evolves for positive COVID-19 protocols, these protocols may also evolve. Our current plan is as follows:

  • If a dancer is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or receives a positive test result for the virus, they will not be allowed to attend class and must confidentially report this information to The Phoenix Theatre Company so that we may take effective safety precautions. This may be confidentially reported to the Summer of Dance Director Molly Lajoie.
  • If a dancer tests positive, all individuals will be informed that the class has experienced a positive COVID test. Any dancers or instructors in a class that has experienced a positive case cannot return to our campus until after the 5 day window has passed and it is recommend they quarantine from others.
  • Dancers will be welcome to return and take future classes after 5 days have passed, they have experienced no fever for a 24-hour period without the use of fever-reducing medications, and they are no longer experiencing other symptoms of COVID-19.
  • The Phoenix Theatre Company will work with you to reschedule into future classes after the quarantine timeframe has lapsed. If rescheduling is not possible, a refund for the unattended class will be offered.
