Participants should be prepared with two 16 bar cuttings. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. 
 
$75 for participants (limited availability)
$25 to audit the class as an observer*

THEATRE BLAST at ASA

An introduction to theatre performance and production.
NOTE: This if a full year course and is available for 5th and 6th grade ASA students only.
 
THEATRE BLAST offers our youngest ASA students the opportunity to explore the world of theatre in a safe and encouraging environment.  Students will learn to develop characters, scenes and whole productions through improvisation, skill building and ensemble dynamics.  The course includes a basic introduction to acting, performance, auditioning, playwriting and play production. This program is available from 3:00pm – 4:00pm and is considered an after school program for students in grades 5 and 6.  Maximum classroom size is 25 students and registration is required through Phoenix Theatre.  Though the class will not be weighed with the student’s school grading, students are expected to attend and participate in this class as they would all other activities at Arizona School for the Arts. 
 
Price:  $600
Dates:  August 16, 2010 – May 13, 2011 (during regular ASA school days).

Course Objectives:
  • Students develop an appreciation for theatre arts as a valuable part of their lives
  • Students can articulate basic terminology for theatre performance and production
  • Students learn basic skills in performance and production
  • Students learn the process to create and produce a minimal theatre production
  • Students build community through theatrical games and activities
  • Students create and produce their own theatrical production

ACTING FOR THE STAGE MASTER CLASSES:

COST:
Only $25 dollars per Master Class!
  • Payment must be received BEFORE attending a class.
  • Please Sign-in for every class you attend.
  • Dance Classes will be held in the Main stage Rehearsal Hall and the Studio at Phoenix Theatre
  • Classes are 1 hour and twenty minutes except for Yoga (one hour) and Master Classes (length varies)
  • Most Master Classes are held in Rehearsal Room A. (Where Nearly Naked Theatre rehearses) The entrance faces Alvarado on the east side of the Musuem/Theatre Complex.

Please wear clothes that you can move in!
Please wear appropriate footwear!
