Partners That Heal

Program Initiative:  Health & Wellness / Community Voices

Project Description: The Partners That Heal program exists to create an outlet to help ease the tension, nervousness, and fear that an individual and/or family experiences while receiving care for a prolonged period of time. By using creative drama techniques such as story drama, improvisation, puppetry, as well as music, dance and comedy, actors create a fun and engaging experience. While working with children, actors may use everyday care utensils (tongue depressors, face masks, stethoscopes, cotton swabs, etc) to unlock a patient’s imagination while helping to affirm care providers as heroes.

Serving youth and adults, our program becomes part of a total care package that:
  • Strengthens the human connection by bringing people together as members of one community
  • Improves the quality of life for children, adults and families in long-term care.
  • Alleviates fear and provides normalcy, through entertainment and consistent visitation.
